One Thought Rules Them All

The meeting this morning — which I had been dreading all day yesterday— turned out to be really helpful and informative. I started last night “self-talking” myself into being calm and collected at the meeting. I really am a huge believer in #thoughtsbecomethings so I guess it should be surprising the meeting turned out so well.

The form I worked on developing for several days last week, didn’t work for me when I opened it yesterday afternoon— I had copy/pasted it inside a larger document in which it was to be included. I don‘t know what was going on but both the Project Specialist and the Project Manager said it worked perfectly for them when they tried it this morning.

What are some examples of situations in your life that turned out so well you almost couldn’t believe it? That you worried about, lost sleep over, thought about constantly, that ultimately turned out just fine?

Large or small. Life-changing or far less significant, there are hundreds of opportunities for us to pull into ourselves — as if we have all the power to control a situation. God has been working in my life — almost continually it seems — to teach me to stop claiming the power that is not mine: the power to change an outcome He’s already decided; the power to change someone else who isn’t ready to chang; the power to stop something from happening that He’s already ordained; or force something He’s decided against!

Oh my goodness! We are nothing without God! I don’t mean that we’re insignificant — we aren’t! But it’s because of Him — and Him in us — that we are intrinsically significant — and of incalculable worth! We would be well-served to remember that dynamic! Life would be more peaceful. Life would run more smoothly. Life would feel like a celebration more often — which is what it is to God!

So unless you’re living in a refugee camp, or a war-ravaged city, or are enslaved, held captive somewhere, or are bound and gagged: you have nothing to be worried about! Concerned? Yes! Worried? Absolutely not!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7 NIV).
