If It’s January . . .

There’s a generational “pattern” in my family! One of my sisters calls it “Christmas mental illness.” You know . . . holidays are over. The joy — and stress — subside as life resumes a somewhat “regular” pace and flow. In my part of the world, it’s typically cold and gray, rainy with scattered days of snow. Not pretty. Not warm. Not bright.

Many years, I can recall being sick in January! More than likely, it has been stress induced, due to poor health habits, weather and maybe, now that I’m aware, even my mindset!

The other day I commented to a friend that January is not typically a good month for me. I took a step back when my friend reminded me that last January at this time, a women’s retreat — that has ultimately become a full-blown ministry — was birthed.

Just today I launched a new writers coaching group on Facebook.

In January.

So when did this mental illness turn to spiritual fullness? I’m not really sure, but it certainly has happend! It’s been a long, painfully slow process. But now it’s true — with a vengeance! So I realized I need to stop speaking death into my life and speak the life that is flourishing and literally bursting to push above the surface and run wild!

Flourish is my “word” for 2020! So far, it’s coming true! It didn’t even occur to me that it was January . . . and January isn’t typically . . .

As one who’s been contending and coaching others that thoughts become things, I think it’s time to stop the old dialog and begin looking forward to the Januarys that are to come!
