Today’s guest blogger is Heather Thompson. I’m so excited that she’s generously sharing her journey from Food Addiction to Food Sober. Have you ever heard of Carnivore eating? It was new to me but she’s had such great success with it, I thought it would the perfect way to celebrate National Meat Week, January 26 — February 2, 2020.

Hello :) This is my first year celebrating carnivore week/month!!

I’ll start with a little background of what lead me to carnivore. The past 20 years I struggled with eating disorders, depression, and food addiction.

I was always searching for the right way to eat. A way where I was not obsessing with counting calories, macros, weighing myself everyday, or thinking of food 24/7. I tried keto off and on for many years and everything else you can think of. I have lost 100 pounds twice only to gain it all back and more. I would fall off keto and other eating plans. I would get cravings, binge and lose control. I knew I had to eliminate certain foods.

I’m in the process of healing myself and discovering self love. Feeling my feelings not eating them. Letting go of things in the past and combining the right eating has been a big part.

I started following a few people on Instagram that are doing Carnivore in Aug 2019. Many of them had struggled with cravings and food addiction/eating disorders also. Their health problems range from auto immune disorders, Hashimoto’s, skin problems, weight problems, and blood pressure are just a few. I have some of the health problems above as well I’m healing from.

I knew I had to give carnivore a try. I was sick and tired of being sick and tried. I got to a point I that I thought I was too far sick and gone to turn around.

I jumped into Carnivore September 2019. I feel great eating just meat, more satisfied, more energy, and cravings gone. My mind is clear!! If I do get a craving I have learned a trick to help. Weight is coming off, mood and depression much better!

Being a busy single mom carnivore is so easy and simple! I don’t have to come up with any sides to go with the meat. I buy different cuts of red meat and ground beef. I do eat chicken wings and salmon too. I will add in eggs or cheese here and there. I would like to do strict carnivore just water and meat soon. People think carnivore is expensive but it’s not. Every week there is different meats on sale. Meat freezes great too. I know every meal is a meat. I just have to have it ready to go to cook.

I fell off carnivore over the holidays. I let my mind get the best of me and my eating disorder (ED)l started making up excuses saying “just one bite.” Well I know that being a food addict you can’t just have one bite. So that lead to a few bad weeks.

I’m happy to say I’m back on track. Carnivore is the lifestyle for me. My doctors are on broad with the health and healing benefits of Carnivore.

I’m excited to be on this journey of health and healing inside and out. — mentally, physically, emotionally, and physically. And eating carnivore is such a big part of it.
